Roadside Tales: Iowa Covered Bridges URP is the next installment in the series focused on the quiet story unfolding closest to the player — right by his road. Inspired by historic structures from the state of Iowa, these bridges introduce raw wood, classic red, and a rural American vibe to the project, perfectly reinforcing the close, local narrative of space.
Includes 8 historic covered bridges in two structural designs and multiple weathered variants, plus a full modular construction kit for custom layouts. The surrounding environment covers a complete riverside setting: custom water, animated grass, skybox, terrain layers, fences, and natural props — all LOD-optimized and ready to use.
Additionally, the project includes an atmospheric demo scene featuring supporting assets from my other packages.
Technical Details
- 8 stylized covered bridge designs — historic plank-and-beam construction, ready to drop into any rural, fantasy, or low-poly scene
- Arch/pier module for extending or customising bridge spans
- Custom water shader (EA_CoolWater) with animated caustics — designed specifically to sit under or beside the bridges
- Stylized animated grass (EmacEArt_StylizedGrass) with a full in-editor GUI; wind speed, direction and density controllable without touching shader code
- Custom procedural skybox (EmacSkyboxURP) with an in-editor colour editor
- 5 hand-crafted terrain layers: Grass, Flower Field, Pebble Shore, Rock Slope, Leaf Forest — paint a complete riverside biome without additional assets
- Vegetation & props: trees, hay bales, rocks, wooden furniture (courtesy of bundled NatureForge LITE assets)
- Fence set: ranch-style, stone-wood, meadow, stakes, curved sections, gates, and a watchtower — spline-compatible, from the Roadside Tales Fence Pack
- Demo scene showcasing everything assembled in a countryside river environment
- Spline demo scene for the fence layout workflow

Render Pipeline Note
This package is configured to open in the Universal Render Pipeline (URP) by default upon import. If you intend to use the Built-in Render Pipeline, please refer to the included PDF documentation, which provides step-by-step instructions on how to properly convert and set up the project.
Performance-friendly by default
Almost every prefab ships with a 3-level LODGroup pre-configured, so the pack is usable in mobile-targeted projects right out of the box. Median LOD0 complexity is around 1,000 triangles; the heaviest bridge prefab peaks at ~113K tris (useful as a hero asset in close-up cinematic shots).
Atlas texturing
All meshes share a compact atlas-based UV layout. This means you can palette-swap the entire visual style — wood tone, roof colour, stone tint — by editing a single texture, with no material duplication.
Included documentation
- URP Setup Guide (PDF) — covers post-processing profile, render pipeline asset settings, and common gotchas in Unity 2022+
- Stylized Grass Manual (PDF) — parameter reference for the grass shader
